Asus Case Study

Asus was founded in 1989 by T. H. Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh and M.T. Liao in Taipei, Taiwan. As stated on the SuccessStory website “The company got its name from the last four letters of the word “Pegasus”, who was a winged horse from Greek mythology. ASUS signifies the creative spirit, strength, and purity exemplified by this mythical creature. It likens its tendency of growing with each new innovative product it brings into the market, to the soaring of the horse to new heights with its superior powers.” In 2009, the company had manufacturing facilities in the cities of Taipei, Luzhu, Nangan, and Guishan, in Taiwan; Suzhou and Chongqing in Mainland China; Ciudad Juarez in Mexico; and Ostrava in the Czech Republic. Week 2 - Marketing In the News: Facebook

Facebook has decided to change the algorithm in which Facebook operates!! In doing this the company hopes to "promote more personal content rather than news."  As stated in the article on the Forbes website "Social [media] is a place where fake news can get the most shares and engagement, especially on Facebook. In an effort to curb this, Zuckerberg is willing to risk short-term user engagement on his platform for more interactions with friends and family." The marketing issue here is that Facebook may just lose a majority of its industry ascompanies and business stop paying for ads that won't get to the masses as they did before. Hoever, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook is okay with that, staring that, that was what Facebook was all about to begin with and has been scued with all of the fake news and ads. Week 2 - Social Listening: Fitbit

Fitbit has become on of the largest health trackers in the Unites States. Heck! Even I have one!  Fitbit's value proposition is to provide a simple, easy, motivational, and fun product that people will enjoy using, while at the same time providing accurate information. However, acording the Fitbit's FaceBook page many customers are having issues with getting acurrate in formation. For example one customer states:                              "Just got my fitbit Charge 2, and its weird. It recorded a 1500 steps while I was sleeping, which doesn't make sence. It won't record any steps while I'm walking." Another customer says:                              "My Fit bit Charge 2 has jumped two hours ahead, cannot change it in the app, and my friends had done the same, any sugeestions?" Week 1 - Marketing in the News: 50 Strong

50 Strong was founded by Ashley Thompson, it's a company that manufactures water bottles and other plastic items in the United States. In addition, not only do they manufacture in the US, but they can do it cheaper than overseas. 50 Strong's value proposition is that they can manufacture and sell their products cheaper and with better quality than products brought in from overseas. The main point that applies to marketing is that they showed how they could provide the same product at less expensive cost but they manufacture in the US providing jobs and stability in the US economy. I did not really find anything that shouted: "New" or "Innovative" about their marketing strategy. However, it seems a logical way to go about marketing their products. Week 1 - About Me

For me enrolling in BA 223 Principles of Marketing was an easy choice, it is the last class I needed to complete before I could finally get my degree! My degree you ask? I will have an associate in General Studies, in addition to a one-year accounting clerk certification. For marketing, I am most interested in learning the best ways to mark a business, so that I will be a pro when it comes to marketing my own business. Some things outside of college that I enjoy doing are snowboarding, working on my business, and chilling at home. There's not much outside of school you can do when you also work two jobs!
